My Story

My Journey

From International Swimming Arenas to Hospital Beds

My journey with endometriosis and how it shaped my mission to help women reclaim their health

Growing Up

I grew up competing in British swimming and Modern Pentathlon, living away from home on a scholarship to a prestigious sports college at age 12, and going on to compete across Europe as a member of England Talent and Pentathlon GB.

I made huge sacrifices to achieve; my childhood was far from ‘normal’. 5am daily starts, breakfast out of containers in the car to school, weekends spent somewhere across the UK competing in one competition or another. I wouldn’t change it for the world, but I do have my suspicions that the endless pressure, high intensity training, and stress of achievement perhaps laid the physiological foundations for the later growth of endometriosis in my body.

The Turning Point

After multiple serious injuries, I was unable to perform at the high standards expected. I ended up quitting competitive sports, obtaining qualifications as a swimming instructor, and going to university to study Politics and French.

Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic hit in my first year, which coincided with my declining health, namely the onset of horrendous gastrointestinal symptoms. The pandemic stole some incredible opportunities from me – studying abroad in America and France, meeting new people, developing myself as a person. Instead, I found myself back home, studying online for a university I had to transfer to, for a degree program (now Politics and International Relations) I hadn’t initially chosen.

My health rapidly declined, but I was unable to see a GP given the pandemic. I started controlling my eating to mitigate the symptoms I was experiencing, leading to the loss of my period and the development of an eating disorder it would take years to overcome. I was later misdiagnosed with both IBS and PCOS over the course of 5 years post university.

Endometriosis

My pain was not explained by my diagnosis’, and I was receiving no recognition or support from the medical system.

In my search for answers, I undertook my qualifications to be a personal trainer and centered my life around health and fitness.

Despite training regularly, eating a wholefood diet, prioritizing my sleep and stress, I was still faced with worsening symptoms. Eventually, despite warnings and dismissal, I pushed for a laparoscopy and was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2025.

My Mission Today

My diagnosis completely changed the way I approached health and fitness. I started delving deep into women’s health, learning that our medical system is geared towards male health and male physiology, and far too many women were falling through the cracks.

I learnt that high intensity training, toxic environments, emotional trauma, processed and inflammatory foods, poor sleep and a severe lack of understanding of female health in the medical community all create a chaotic cocktail for the onset of female health disorders.

Now, my mission is three-fold: to educate people about the gaps in our medical system that overlook and misunderstand female health, to create holistic wellness programs tailored towards reproductive health conditions, and to advocate for improved funding, diagnostic, and treatment pathways for women’s health.

I hope to build a platform that does all 3: offering guidance and support for improved health through a fitness and nutritional perspective, educating women about their bodies, and fighting the system to put women’s reproductive health into public discourse and policy.

My journey, from high achievement and competitive sports to hospital beds and GP surgeries, was not one I could have predicted, nor prepared for. I will channel my hardships into something impactful – to help women in pain to find the answers and support that we deserve.
